Dr. Gabriel Serrano, Founder and President of the Sesderma Group, has been awarded the Order of Democracy Simón Bolívar, at the rank of Official Cross, one of the highest distinctions conferred by the Honorable Chamber of Representatives of the Congress of the Republic of Colombia.
This prestigious honour recognises his outstanding scientific and clinical career, as well as his significant contributions to medicine, dermatology, and innovation. The award acknowledges more than four decades dedicated to the study, research, and treatment of skin diseases, driven by an unwavering commitment to improving patients’ quality of life.

Born in Colombia and trained in Spain, Dr. Gabriel Serrano has built an internationally recognised career in dermatology and dermocosmetics. His visionary approach led him to establish the Sesderma Group, comprising Sesderma and Mediderma, pioneering companies in the application of nanotechnology to skincare, with a presence in more than 90 countries worldwide. Throughout his career, Dr. Serrano has led numerous research projects, advanced the field of dermatology through extensive scientific publications and academic work, and promoted the development of innovative solutions that today benefit millions of people around the world.
